it’s spring here finally! Over winter I put in Demon Injectors, 2.85 Grip Tech, Green Filter and a 180 degree stat. Pretty basic setup on 93.

Well I did my first WOT pull today and got 8 deg of short term knock!

Injector duty cycle looked like it was 79 percent. Which is good. I was wondering how I was going to turn out running those.

The fuel I’m using is from fall but I put stable in so I was hoping it was fine. I guess I’m going to drain fuel tomorrow and hope that’s it.
Stay tuned. Hope it’s worked out by the first Saturday in April when the track opens.

Edit:

I looked at the log again this morning. The chart is confusing because speed is messed up the blue line. I don't think speed picked up again until I dropped below 127mph. But looking at rpm (Green) it looks like the knock (yellow) happened right after I let off. There is a small amount of knock it looks like in 4th but it's only .5.

I'll bet it is. I just started my '09 SRT with a Magnuson super charger after sitting a few weeks with a fresh few gallons of 'winter gas' before I parked her. Got a lean code on the right bank. Never got a code on this car before. Ever. The winter gas is sh&*.

I am a fan of the green filter but I did buy a new factory one. Bmason and Racer X both said the stock one was better. I plan on testing them this year. I tested the green filter to no filter and no difference

There is a lot of surface area and that may be why, not enough restriction

Hope you get it ready by opening day, I will be there

I didn't keep the factory one. This car was from Texas and the original filter was pretty dirty.
I think I came across a post from last year where you did your tests. If I remember right your 1/4 mile was better correct?
You should datalog the runs. It would be good to see. One problem with a lot of stuff I read is it's a lot of people saying I like this and no I like this better. Your post was about the only one with a test behind it.

I did do a test between the 2 but I believe the car was not dead hooking at the time for it to be a real good test. I believe I said that. I had planned on doing it again but only pulled the filter not actually run the stock one

I also tested the hellcat airbox with the green filter against the factory cold air Daytona which the Hellcat out performed. I also tested the hellcat airbox against the JLT on my Daytona and they were the same

I did just order a new factory filter (the one I had is 5 years old) and it was only $23 shipped through Rockauto

As long as the track is hooking I can swap back and forth the filters. I don't know if I have the stuff to datalog being I don't have a controller or anything. Besides, the times will tell me what I need to know

after seeing this is why I want to revisit the test. My thought, it will run the same time with either

It is thin and should move a lot of air but will only benefit if the stock filter is a restriction

I will say when I installed it I noticed how much more boarder was around it and was shocked. I guess worst comes to worst I just grab a factory filter.
I wish I knew that it was less filter area before I bought it or I wouldn't have.

I think it is a give and take. Less area but it flows more then the stocker. There isn't going to much power either way. I feel if the stocker runs the same times it will keep more particles out of the engine

OP,

Any video of your knock? Able to tell it only by data log or could you hear it as well?

Only by datalog. Speed was higher than that I think for what ever reason the log stopped reading at 127mph and just straight lined.

Try new gas and try again.

Sometimes modifications cause false knock. Rule out it isn’t real first.

Since I have an 18 I’m going to try and drain the fuel out of the port on the rail today. I tried to siphon it from the tank last night didn’t work out for me. I kind of figured it wouldn’t.

This is basically the reason why I have parked my cars for the winter empty as possible. Why would I want a full tank of bad gas to run out.

I'm going to start doing that. I've always had people tell me to store them with a full tank. But why do I want a full tank if this is going to happen....

Back in the day they had metal gas tanks and people were worried the condensation from an empty tank would rust it. My fox body mustangs had metal tanks and it never seemed to hurt them. I have been parking my cars in the winter for more then 20 years doing this
I have seen gas go bad sitting and I get my cars out about when the track opens

FYI- try to avoid the Marathon by the track for your car. I think they changed tanks and or lines last year but I'm still not a fan. My diesel when i'd fill up there was always way more Smokey. I'm sure their 93 is decent now but leaves a bad taste with me since I noticed how much crappier my truck ran.
O and let me put it this way I used to have a friend that worked for J&H and he wouldn't even fill his truck up at that Marathon haha
The Clark down town Martin has literally left cars broke down the road and there tanks leaked into my friends property down the road.
