I decided to start detailing the Hellcat today, thinking it had been 6 months since last time (plus something to do). Decon washed, no clay needed, and no polish yet as paint is still in good condition. Still need to do tires and rear bumper...base coat of Sonax Polymer Net shield almost done.

Turns out I detailed it back in June, just 3 months ago. Guess will be putting it in my Calendar. Oh well, it was good therapy. My 6 year old son loses interest after 2-3 panels, but is interested. Always love it freshly detailed anyway.

Tried Wolfgang Paintwork Polish Enhancer before Sealant (Sonax). No cut in it, but did add some shine.

Also, Hellcat cutout fender badges accumulate some dirt and grime. Q-tips were needed. Have a great week everyone.

I'm gonna need some sunlight photos. Paint looks too good. I need to do some rust repair before I get to heavy detailing again. Sad times.

Rust? Damn. That sucks.

I need to get after mine - it is a horrid sight on the outside. No wax or any of that since it has the quartz on it. CFP, how can you see out the passengers side with that garage door opener mounted on the glass?

Sadly, the car had rust when I picked it up... It's decently bad. I can fix it. But still sucks, you know? I'd like to keep my '12 SXT and SRT swap it... But at the same time, might be a better idea to just trade up... Gotta find one worth picking up.

They should have worked that at the time. Was it new? Check your rust warranty, that is different than the power train / comprehensive warranty and is controlled by federal law if I remember correctly.

As far as I've been able to discover, they won't cover it under anything. The cars a 2012 SXT with 100k now. If I end up finding a nice SRT to swap into it, ill fix the body. If not, I'll just trade up.

There are some scratches that can be seen with detail light, certainly not perfect but not enough for full on paint correction. Might use a finishing polish next go around on a panel and see if it helps enhance any?

I will say Sonax was a stubborn bi@#$h to get off...but after 3 months I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Going to go A LOT longer next time before full detail, maybe then a proper polishing will be in order.

I'd say the car is looking pretty damn good. Small scratches aren't that surprising, considering you do drive the car and have some fun. If it's not enough to completely paint correct, then save yourself the cash for a bit and if it ends up that you need it, I'm sure you'll be happy you held out.

Tried to take a picture of detail light in total darkness, but camera not focusing. White is already hard to see scratches. 2+ years and coming up on 18,000 miles. I think some of my scratches came from when I was on my waterless wash kick. Now I use foam cannon (touchless wash) and blow dry it, so paint isn't being accosted as much nowadays. I enjoy working on paint correction stuff, but no need to abuse my clear coast for no reason.

I'm sure you're well aware of the whole Touch-vs-Touchless so I'll save that spiel. I'm a fan of touchless, myself. But I always feel like I don't quite get it as clean as I could.

Yeah, learned my lesson. Tried to be super careful, but I am assuming my scratches came from that.
