That should not be an issue with cables sized for jump starting, when the maintainer only puts out an amp or three.

That should not be an issue with cables sized for jump starting, when the maintainer only puts out an amp or three.

I generally agree, but I'm looking for that higher level of optimization where a 1/10th of volt might make or break the float voltage (from optimal)

I just hook mine directly to the battery. Been doing it for years. Seems like everyone complicates the shit out of everything.

I've been using a Ctek MXS 5.0 (the same as the charger that came with the Demons). Instructions state do not extend the charge cable, yet they sell an 8' extension for this model :rolleyes: I have sort of a Frankenstein set-up that uses a 4' extension left over from my junked Norco charger (crappy charger, but nice cables). I'm hooked direct to the battery with no issues. I typically go for a cruise every 10 - 14 days, so it's frequently being connected/disconnected and the trunk is easier to access than the hood.

Their reply (which doesn't expressly address any voltage drop)

Take it as you see fit.

Good Morning, You can connect directly to the battery or the remote jumpstart access point. If you connect to the battery in the trunk you can not close the trunk lid on the cord so you will have a trunk light on. That could drain your battery down. So your best bet would be to connect to the remote jumpstart access point in the engine compartment. Either way you can connect the Battery Tender to either the access point under the hood or directly to the battery posts.

BTW, I'm able to close the trunk without issue.
My Battery Tender does not have thick wires so closing the trunk is no problem.

Battery or posts in front are fine, there is no discernable difference.
