Today I heard the dreaded sound of a supercharger bearing failure on my '19 Redeye with 2,000 miles on it. I'm beyond disgusted with the ownership experience of this car. I've dealt with a misfire on cylinder 5, alignment issue, rusted rear brake rotors, hood scoop bezel popping out, rear end that whines and now a supercharger bearing has failed

Please direct message me if you have successfully completed a buyback with FCA.

For proof, reference and tagging I attached a video of the noise and a picture of the part number 53010974AD

Sorry to hear this. Hope the process goes smoothly for you? What are your plans after the buyback?

They can bolt in a new supercharger in a couple of hours 100% on warranty. I had a pulley basically fail at 4K miles, replaced the SC with a smile.

Good luck, I’m sure you’re sick of the problems but easy fix.

Maybe it’s normal, but that part number plate looks like its lived a longer life than 2k miles.

I thought of that but it looks Ike it could have come from the engine compartment of my Michigan winter beater with 125k on it.

@Hellcatcfp Not sure what my plans are yet. Ideally, I want a Redeye without any major issues...but I ask myself is the headache worth it? There are a lot of other things to do with >$70k dollars

@DGatzby I had a ’16 Hellcat and the supercharger went bad at 1,800 miles on that one. So I’ve been though this drill before and realize it comes as an assembly that they swap out. Pretty straight forward job.

@Paladin06 The build date is 11/19

@BULL That's the part number on the back of the supercharger housing.Pain to reach... Is there another location to look for the part number?

No, that's it, but I'm just confused by that p/n. Doesn't mean anything, but it doesn't come up, nor match the replacement p/n.

Those rear rotors are an easy fix BTW, if you keep the car, we can help you with that, assuming the rotors haven't been significantly worn.

Video is working now.

I understand this is frustrating for you, but try to see past this, you've got a warranty that will deal with this. These are amazing cars and are worth it in the end.

BTW, I've got a bearing that's not exactly quiet either, but instead of going the warranty route, I'm sending mine to Jokerz Performance this Winter.

Not trying to be negative about the car. The car is a dream come true for any muscle car enthusiast. My goal is to share my ownership experience with the Hellcat community. Helping current and potential owners. And also to give FCA visibility of issues arising.
For the low production numbers I'm seeing a few common issues trending i.e. fuel pumps, shift hiccup and now maybe the old bearing issue in the superchargers.

I'm trying to stay stock/retain my warranty as long as possible. A mid or hopefully low 10 second car with a factory warranty.

Brakes have been taken care of on my time and dime.

Can’t go wrong with either route, warranty Doesn’t cost a dime. If you like turning a wrench and for short money sending it to
“ Jokerz “ could be very rewarding. Keep us posted.

Good question. mine was built 10/19 but I just crossed 500 miles yesterday. Zero issues at this early stage, better than my last 2 Hellcats. Watching this thread and keeping a close eye and ear on mine. Will report anything that surfaces.

OP, really is terrible what you're enduring. Hope they are all an easy, covered fix. I'd want a Level 3 certified tech who mastered all 7 programs working on my ride. There was one at my old service department in my last state. My new dealership has a Viper tech and several Level 3 certified techs.

I think my efforts will answer a few Jokerz questions, as my car is essentially stock.

I'm going for the port and rebuild, also likely a throttle body. I also live at altitude.

The results will be interesting.
