I’m working on installing my new dss driveshaft.
well I think the silver clamp goes in the rubber boot cut out. But I have no idea where the black clip goes. There’s no slip for it. Mush has a video of the same drive shaft but doesn’t show putting either clamp on. This drive shaft is different than the other videos I have seen.
Edited thread name to make it easier for someone to find down the road.

Why wouldn't the clamps already be installed?

grr I’ll have to call them Monday. I ended up putting it in and torquing it down already.
I had a hour and a half worth of trying to figure out what’s going on with it. I tried calling not open on Saturday so Monday I’ll call.

The clamps were in a bag not installed.

There are some videos of installing the 1 piece ds and we are not seeing the boot clamps on any of them. The people making the videos are not talking about the clamps. Mush did a video and it appears there are no boot clamps on his

Were the boot clamps on yours or nothing?

Sidenote...got pictures of the whole thing?

I have a CCI right now and would like to see the differences.

Mine uses 2 ujoints and a custom slip collar/flange at the transmission side.

It is very stout...but my diff noise is transmitted thru it like a tuning fork. Lol.

So looks like mine. Also lines up with the videos we saw.
I wondered why the put the clamps in the bag. Maybe a slight few had issues? Idk. Makes me feel a little better seeing yours like this.

That is exactly what I was looking for!

So the new build has factory joints at both ends? I can see why it was done. Low angles aren't supposed to be good on the U-joints and that should help isolate things better too.

Mine:

I have had zero issues with power or vibration. It is super stout and easy to service. So I won't change until something happens to justify it.

Man that's strange. I'd have thought they'd put the clamps on if they were needed. I have a DSS solid aluminum drive shaft on mine but it's from 2017 so mine's got different ends on it than yours. Mine had no clamps.

Yours was one of the videos I watched. I didn’t notice anything like it. Not one video I found mentioned anything about the clamps.
I looked over the driveshaft and researched about 2 hours yesterday. @vortecd stopped in and we decided to just throw it on as I should still be able to put it on once I call dss. Srtmush didn’t put his on. Well I’m guessing his didn’t come with it. And you can see above @fumanchu182 never had the parts either.
I’m waiting to hear what dss says tomorrow and will update. I will say this new design was nice. I’m a little disappointed in the lack of instructions tho. There were 2 bags of parts not labeled. So I just thought one was front and rear depending on number of bolts. The clamps were different.
I’m at a loss. I think they should have a PDF on their website of basic instructions. I know it’s a driveshaft and not rocket science but a parts list would be nice.

My DSS came with the same clamps, after being in a rush on a saturday with no tech help, I hoped for the best. Called DSS monday and they told me no assembly was required, so I removed the Zip ties I had installed on the boots, installed the metal clamps and forgot about the retaining clips. Have had zero issues with a few thousand miles on the shaft (Im a hair over 8K now but not sure when I put the shaft on) and a handful of track outings

Well just got off the phone with them. Same as said above. You don't need them. They aren't supposed to go in the hardware bag and are supposed to be taken out before shipped and she said lately it seems they've been getting shipped out.

What kind of driveshaft is that?

I had the same dilemma when I got mine, I did call & was told that the clamps didn't need to be installed, that they were for different DS set up. I did put tie wraps around the rubber part tho. just so maybe grease would not come out but none never has so far.
