Michelin Nitto or MT?

Ill chime in here.
Have a '22 Jailbreak on the way ( theoretically ).
Anticipating buying replacement tires for same.
Street use only.
Considering moving from 305 to 315 section and wondering if anyone has any seat of the pants opinions about that. Worth changing/not?
Also looking for a least expensive Y rated tire in either 305 or 315.

Ive been holding off on tires but I now have a plug in one of my stock Pirelli junk tires from running over a nail. This spring when I start driving it more ill be on the hunt. This thread interests me for sure. Seems like the Michelins are the popular go-to. Just as an aside - is more hook going to increase the chance of the next weakest link failing? D/S, diff., etc. Not wanting to need a brace and possibly void the warranty.

Agree with the concern but for me cats built flywheel to wheel stud, I’d LOVE a to find a street tire that would hook good enough to break something in my driveline from a dead hook (wheel hopping don’t count, I’ve already busted enough stuff from that, I want to HOOK!!)

As i dont have my car yet, im unable to personally look at the spec of the tires on my car.
The car, per Dodge, has a top speed of 203 mph.
I have no desire whatsoever to attempt that.
I am assuming the the OEM tires carry a speed rating of Y or ( Y ).
Ive noticed a lot of folks buying W rated or lower rated tires. I realize many use their cars on the strip and street and are looking for grip, usefullnes on the street and good value.
I do wonder though, worst case, if you wreck the car on the street and someone gets hurt, what a plaintiffs attorney would make of W rated tires on your 203 mph car that came with Y rated tires.
To be clear, i am NOT being critical of anyone here...i myself am looking at all options including W rated tires. It does give me pause to think however.

I would think that when they checked the “black box” to see what the speeds were at the time of the crash and found them to be under the rating on the tires that you’d be fine.

Well I need tires for my car as well. Shopped MPS4s and holy crap either they’ve gone up in price or I drink too much to remember what I paid for them about 2 years ago when they were relatively new.

Tire Rack has them for like $360 for a 275/40. I feel like I paid around $100 less when I bought my last set haha.

I have 3 different tires for the rear of my car. 1. Pirelli P4 Sports, which is better than stock but still can't handle power. 2. Nitto 555r2 which is much better but in 20" wheel doesn't have the sidewall to hard hook. These are my daily driving ones. 3. Street Rs. I use these for the track and they have always hooked on a prepped surface for me. Don't drive on street because you will crash in the rain and are easy to puncture.

I just bought these for now. I don’t drive in the snow or anything but I will be driving the car once in a while I’m sub freezing temps. Discount Tire had them a little cheaper and had a 5% off promo plus a 10% off military discount, so I was pretty happy with that.

Still figuring out what I want to do for my Summer setup. My guess is things are going to get more expensive in the next year, maybe I’ll just hold out.

Trying to figure out if there's going to be a PS5S; these are denoted as PS5. Was getting ready to order a staggered set of tires for my new summer wheels, but still haven't made a decision yet. I do have good experience with R888's, but the price of those are soaring into over $500/tire range. Not sure I need that track grip for the Hellcat.

I decided to give the Mickeys one more try, in a 305 size this time on a 10.5 or 11” rims if I can get the rims before needing to mount the skins. Went with this tire. I’ll post my timers thoughts on them verse the Nitto’s once on the car and streets are warm and clean.

The jump from 305mm to 315mm is less than 4/10"...it won't amount to a hill of beans as far as traction goes.

Ok, on the fence which predominantly used on the STREET tire to purchase for this coming season. Either a 305 or 315 20” tire. Predominant use performance from a standing start to 1/4+ mile and 60-130+ roll racing.
I’ve used Nitto NT05R and 555R2 so I have allot of experience with their pro’s and con’s but have read good things about Michelin PS4S as well and thinking about trying a different street tire.
Some thoughts come to mind on the decision, looking for input to help make a choice as 2 tires are going to be 950-1150$ Plus mounting and balancing.

Only dry pavement use

The PS4S would probably last longer?

I’ve read the PS4S grip longer into their life then the DR’s do? Especially verse the MT Street SS ET I’ve read

Is there a better choice in the Michelin line then the PS4S for the intended use?

Pd4s last longer bc not a drag radial. Nietos ok though I have experience w 555R only, no R2. For me, MT was best at the beginning but would quickly suffer reduction in traction from heat cycling of the compound on the street during heavy usage. And is, in my experience, more expensive.
