Can't say that I've had bad luck with Furds, since I've never possessed enough tools or patience to own one.
But they are a bitch to work on.

I don't work on modern vehicles of any brand.
Not much you can do, other than maintenance and changing sub assemblies.

That's at least a voluntary choice. Unlike having to walk because the Furd broke down.

Also, should the GM quit on you, you're likely to be able to fix it with ease.

Disagree you can do plenty. I had my '13 mustang tore down to the short block and put it in the back of my Evo to take it to the shop to get forged internals put into it. Wasn't that hard putting the duel over head cam assembly back together and installing it back into the car. I don't use air tools either.

Only difference between a new car and old one is fuel injection and smog equipment. I work with jacks and hand tools and can do most things in my garage. Sometimes I need another set of hands but working on cars is not that hard

Yes, you can obviously rebuild engines, transmissions, diffs, etc., change ball joints, shocks and such.
But it's not quite like on an older vehicle.

If I put my TRX on the 2-post lift, for example, chances are good that the shocks have to be recalibrated afterwards. You can't even bleed the brakes in normal fashion anymore.

To me, "working" on a modern car usually means trying to defeat as many of the nannies as possible, then hope that nothing needs to be worked on while I own it. It's just not anywhere near as fun.

Would you want to build a new electrical system to your liking, from scratch, for your '13 Mustang, for example?

He’s not lying. He doesn’t use power tools. Idk how he does it. I grew up having to use hand tools for everything. As soon as I could I bought an air impact.

I have all the latest snap on tools(three of us @ work have an account)...don't ask me why...the older I get...the less I use them..but with two lifts...and 3 bike lifts...somebody is always fixin somethin...
