Calling out all Luddites

Well I am 68, sir. I do not think who I know or who I have ever hung out with is relevant to a discussion on resisting change. My “occupation” is associated with making electricity. I sit on Boards of Directors regarding power generation. My phone can dial up some of the CEO’s or their underlings of some substantial utilities, major manufacturers of power generation equipment and suppliers/contractors. Yes, I have a fair idea of how our power generation system works and its’ capabilities.

I am not resisting change, but we are not even close to where the government wants us to believe. Right now, how do you charge an EV in CA, when you cannot even run your AC? What is happening is socialism plain and simple. When enough people have these fables of transportation, then we will really see prohibitive increases in electric rates and that social government will rip you for road tax right on your income statement every year.

I made a post last night on my real opinion in another thread. We will keep your thread fairly professional. No, I am not going to own any of it soon.

Did the government mandate a change from horses to tractors? I’m not anti EV, though I don’t want it, but I don’t like things being shoved down our throats based a “feelings science”. If EV technology is so great, efficient, effective and reasonably environmentally safe, then let the free market decide. Some people still like Vinyl records…at least the government didn’t demonize those…yet.

However the government got involved in the 1960's creating the rules for safety and the reduction of pollution.

Which eventually became the EPA ...and somewhere along the lines granted California there own bureau to create rules for ICE vehicles.

Today some of the continental united states are trying to follow their rules..

Believe me I live in Connecticut...and was awakened to understand that somewhere deep in the bowels of my state some asshole decided to follow California with the electric only rules that most people I know didn't exist until last week..


Believe me I'm a card carrying member of the NRA and 2A...

I freely admit i build ghost guns..

And various other groups and this underhanded disregard of our rights and rules under the Constitution and other documents....

Pisses me off...beyond I can describe.

So I also feel strongly against the government of the United States when they try to spoon feed me bullshit.

I think EVs are something to think about as a alternative...just as the argument of which engines better...gas or diesel?..

All have their benefits...

I was just watching Bill Maher this week on HBO when he said the United States Military is the worst polluter when it comes to hydrocarbons..".that if the US military was a country it would be the 47th largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world" our military is is largest user of petroleum in the world.."..


So with that..said....instead of bashing manufacturers....maybe we should look at ourselves...and our own government..and start there...vote in people favorable to ICE..willing to keep USA workers employed..fight back at California and their air board...
And be willing to go toe to toe with the true American..those who love petrochemical exhaust and rubber...
Or keep a open mind on performance...

Today..as far as I know.. there is nothing outside of a Atlas rocket that has the acceleration of electric motors...so let's try to innovate rather than po po electric..its here to stay..

I still love engines and taking them down to their individual parts...

Integration is very interesting..and if it's not..your not a true gearhead..

It is not a pro ICE or pro EV thing. It is about ramming an agenda (not true innovation) through force and lies before it is technologically ready. As discussed earlier, why is clean burning natural gas being demonized?

I'm open to anything that makes our planet healthier from pollution (soot, lead, etc., etc).
CO2 bullshit is justification for control and rationing of natural resources. Backdoor centralized control on a Global scale.

I've always considered myself a gearhead. But electric motors have never interested me much.
Maybe because there are no gears in them?

My problem is all the bs about the benefits to everyone of electric vehicles. I haven't seen that yet and i sure don't want to be driving an electric car in the winter when it needs a charge...

Usually when the government tells us something is better its not.

Yeah and I can’t wait to see how EV adoption goes in big cities like NY where you have all these apartments without garages for charging. Guess you just go to the local charging station and sit there for an hour or 2 while the POS charges. Sounds like a hoot! Should be fun in the middle of January 😂

Ah yes, the joy of the quietness of the EV.

Just got reminded when putting better tires and wheels on the little Audi Q5. That thing is so quiet that I searched for (hybrid) electric motors after driving it the first time.

So as long as that car doesn't identify as an EV, I'm quite happy with it. Especially since I won't need to charge it.

I remember my paternal Grandfather not wanting a new John Deere tractor to manage 500 acres because he thought his two great teams of horses could do better...

My mother grew up with no indoor plumbing. They got their water at the springs and used an outhouse. Cooked and heated with the same wood/coal burning stove.

And dirt floors.
