Service department pays the bills from what I understand. Sales profit, hold back, incentives, interest points, and of course ADM are how dealers make profit. I'm thinking a couple hundred thou of straight profit on one or two units helps a lot. Dealerships here have also held hot cars in their show rooms to draw in the regular buyer. People come to see the hot car and buy a truck or whatever.
Interest rates just ticked up AGAIN, so that's gonna tamp a lot of this for what I'd call normal cars. I'm already getting emails from the local Chevy dealer on "deals" so sales are down I suspect. These limited number halo cars won't be as impacted since the wealthy will pay cash more than likely. Mark my words, very few of these will actually get built. They've already given themselves an out and are 6 mos late to start.
