Electrical issues, curious on others opinions.

So are you trading it in?

I checked a bunch of electrical connections on the car, at the bcm, under the hood etc, and can't find anything loose or obvious at this point. The car has also been fine for the past 2 days that I've driven it so who knows when the issue is going to rear its ugly head again. I do really love this car and the spec, but I have my 2015 Challenger Hellcat and race car life can be difficult as it is, I don't need a new car that could be a potential basket case. It could be a really easy fix, or it could be a giant pain in the ass and right now I'm not really willing to roll those dice.



I stopped by and test-drove the RS6 Avant I've been eyeing today. Absolutely gorgeous car drives incredibly well and definitely has a Jekyll/hyde personality. It is incredibly refined which hides the speed and some of the wow factor for me, but I didn't push it super hard on the test drive. Definitely gotta wait for the turbos to light but then it's a rocket.

Long story short, I left a deposit on the RS6, the Redeye goes back to the dealer Monday.

The dealer is taking the car back and I’ll be no cost out of pocket. Then they can take their time getting it resolved and re sell it.

Sorry to hear that about the car man, but I think you did the right thing. Anything built after 2019 you’re rolling the dice imo when it comes to cars

I appreciate that, it sucks but at the end of the day it will get resolved and someone will get a nice car out of it. I also agree vehicle quality in general has gone way down since 2020.

Every time my girlfriend comes home after driving her RS6 Avant she says "This car is bat shit crazy!".

Yes, she really likes her Redeye, but has never said anything like that about it. About the closest would be when I took her for a ride in my 'Cat, then did a surprise 60-120.

That made her say "Holy fuck!". And then order her Redeye.

She should drive that redeye more often then! I bet the Audi is a lot easier to drive at 9/tenths or 10/tenths though.

Well, after some Googling looks like I might have gotten excited too early. It looks like the NHP connector is typically not plugged in on these cars for whatever reason. Someone was having similar issues for different systems and pointed out this same canbus connector not being connected. It ended up being a different Molex connector causing his issues. Apparently, he found it himself after the car had been at the dealer for 100 days.

That kind of just confirmed for me that I'm done. The car is going back tomorrow. It sucks. I spent $5k to fly out and watch the car get built at the plant, it's my dream spec, and it's the last year and irreplaceable. BUT at the end of the day, it's just a car. My focus needs to be on the 2015 and moving forward with that build, not a brand-new car.

No it’s not, that’s for adaptive cruise control. Do you have that?

I don’t and you’re right, I assumed it was supposed to be plugged in since it was right there, there was another connector taped way back on the harness which was a good indicator it wasn’t supposed to be plugged in.

The issues with the Redeye are resolved as far as I’m concerned.

Bites that the 'solution' had to be so drastic, but electrical issues can be extremely tedious to work thru
