John Bond supercharger oil is blue, it’s a ceramic based lubricant, excellent stuff, getting OEM lubricant is impossible (well it has been so far, if anyone knows how to get it please let me know)

These, they are breathers connected to gear case and are right behind the seals on the firewall side of the rotors. View attachment 18508 View attachment 18509
Yes, I do remember seeing those. I definitely covered mine with the heat blanket. now Im also wondering if i Need to re-do my blanket.

no need to remove the blanket, just cut a slit close, stick your finger in there to locate the breathers and make a small cut out around them.

jesus!! Having to take that supercharger off Again is going to be a pain in the ass !!!
from those photos it looks like the oil will still bleed out even with the heat blanket covering the ports.

With that in mind, I wonder how bad it‘ll be to just leave the ports covered.

They probably don’t know, I only know from tearing them down to the bare housing and a having a engineering background in equipment maintenance and repair whats what and why it’s done.

Do you think it’s imperative to have those openings fully exposed or will it be ok to leave the blanket over the openings?. Keeping in mind that it seems like the oil will still be evacuated even with the blanket over them.

Do you think it’s imperative to have those openings fully exposed or will it be ok to leave the blanket over the openings?. Keeping in mind that it seems like the oil will still be evacuated even with the blanket over them.
The adhesive on the FI blanket is the stickiest I’ve ever seen, but most likely it’s not 100% air tight. I wouldn’t remove the blower just to make vent holes but next time off would and with any new installations take them into account and not block them.

Blower is off. Both dowel pins are on the one side, didn't expect that

Both dowels need to just be on one side, you don’t want them across and in both heads. It’s that way for thermal expansion of the engine. Being on just one side gets the job done, it aligns the blower parallel to the block. You need longer ones when putting the spacers in, 24 mm long if memory serves me correctly. Hopefully they come out easy for you, I’ve yet to have one do such, their a bitch to get out.

Dowels are staying in. Not going to screw with them all day. Tried a couple of things and done. Torquing down now

Played around for a little bit with the dowels and said nope wasn't going to turn it into an all day deal. Wiped off the heads (there is always oil there by the ports) but yes it rest was that clean. I just pulled the front dowel out of mine. Easy peasy--took only 10 min.

I used my 8mm x 1.25 die with a ratcheting box end wrench to turn it (since my die handle can't clear the casing).
I put 8mm x 1.25 threads on the dowel as far as I could--nearly all the way down to the casing.
Then with a stack of washers, an 8mm x 1.25 nut, and a socket + driver just pulled it out--only had to increase the washer stack height once or twice I think and it was out.

Yes, I have longer ones. But regardless of length, I'd just carefully tap the new ones in--checking depth as I went.
