I agree with the above, the tow package including the integrated trailer brake. That's a plus in my opinion.
Im not towing anything, I never will. And to me that tow hitch takes away the look of the truck.

It's your vehicle, so order it up the way you want it, but just for the record, it's hidden behind a removable valance....

;)

(My input would have been to put it on there just for resale value BTW)

What does that mean? Either you are or your not. Did they tell you they won't confirm the price until later? Then how can you sign the deal? For a sales contract, price is fairly necessary term.

I ordered one on Saturday, I already own a Trackhawk, and will be trading that in on the Durango . . . however, based on everything I am seeing online, it appears that it won't be built until January . . .

The only problem with that is that when I trade it in, in the State of Texas, I only pay sales tax on the difference between the sales price and the trade-in value, so in this case, I would be paying sales tax on about $17K, which comes out to around $1065, but if I sold the Trackhawk outright, I would be paying taxes on the full price, which would be around $5565, so I would have to be able to sell the Jeep for at least $4000 more than what they are offering me to simply just break even, and in today's market, with Trackhawks being hard to sell, I'm not sure I could do better than what they are offering me, all things considered.

When I sell here I always make the buyer responsbile for all sales taxes (just like the dealers). Never paid any tax on a sale. lol, and never trade in, ever.

Not sure you understand what I was saying . . .

Hypothetical numbers here:

I buy a vehicle for $25,000
I have a trade in that the dealer has allowed $20,000

I pay taxes on the Difference between the price of the vehicle and the trade in value, so I pay taxes on $5000, and at 6.25%, that would be $325

Vs:

I buy a vehicle for $25,000
I put $21,000 in cash down, because I sold the vehicle I would have been trading in for more than the dealer allowed

I pay taxes on $25,000, which at 6.25%, would be $1562

Total price including taxes for the trade in deal would be $25,312, and subtract out the trade in allowance, the amount to finance would be $5312
Total price including taxes for selling the vehicle and putting the proceeds of the sale toward the purchase price, would be $26,562, and subtract the down payment of $21,000 and the amount to finance would be $5562

$5562 - $5312 = $250

So, in these hypothetical situations, if I trade in my vehicle, even though I get less for it on the trade in, the taxes are a LOT less, than if I were to sell the car for even more money and then had to pay the taxes on the full sales price of the car I was buying . . . and it would actually cost me $250 more to do that than by trading the car in . . .

Hope that makes sense . . .

Roger that. I was looking at it from the implication that there was a sales tax on the private sale.

I agree with the above, the tow package including the integrated trailer brake. That's a plus in my opinion.
+ it ups the tow capacity from 7400 to 8700 lbs.
Even if you add the OE hitch, OE harness and a brake controller after, it does not change the base capacity + it's wicked expensive (read virtually impossible) to install the OE integrated trailer brake controller later.

Bumpers are the same for tow vs. non-tow equipped vehicles, the only difference being those with tow have a slight bump in the panel over the hitch receiver area.
Pretty much unnoticeable unless you are really looking for it !

Definitely gonna hurt resale value, narrows down your market especially on a limited production run.

You said it best, better to have and not need than to need it and not have.

I'm going to say this in the nicest way sometimes people are too stubborn or stupid to take advice.

Here's the best example I have for you, a buddy leased a new f-150 platinum 3 years ago, I picked up a swapalease truck in February due end of December.

Within 500 miles of each other, same exterior interior, same region, every option the same except I have max tow and he doesn't.

If I were to trade the truck in today I have offers that are about $2500 higher than his because of the tow package. (Package a $1500 or $1600 on sticker)

Now it's not exactly apples to apples here, but limited production run + very few options to tick to begin with, I would imagine adding every package possible would give you the advantage when op goes to sell the vehicle, people will pay more for fully loaded but they won't pay more because it looks "cleaner"

If op plans to ride the truck until it's death then disregard all of that.

A f150 is a pickup truck- way different market. When the time comes im sure I will get the money I want. I will never not be able to sell it because it doesn’t have a tow package. Whoever in their right mind would pay you $2500 more just because you have a tow package(thats was a $1500/$1600 option) is my kind of person , get me their contact info I have a bridge I want to sell them.
