I always liked the way the satin black extended past the hood on the T/A's..wanted to replicate that on my 16 HC...simple enough right ?..I order the T/A part and install it..not even close...now mind you it's tape...but I was told the T/A's hood is paint...but the tape matches perfectly on the T/A...had the custom shop I deal with source 5 diff satin wraps till we found a match....went through the same dog and pony show with my 18 Demon..2 different cars..both with supposedly the same satin black paint code..neither car matches..and both have different nose wraps...but the nose matches the hood on both cars....dealer parts guys were clueless....hope yer project goes well

Apparently it’s all in the clear coat, it’s really just jet black with 15% sheen clear coat. But that can vary depending on how the shop depends to do it. I wrapped my roof and trunk, I’m giving the painter a swath of the satin wrap and asking him to match it. I’ve found the 3m satin black wrap matches almost dead on to the painted satin black factory hood

I know the Factory (Brampton) painted my 16 HC hood...my Demon was painted by an upfitter..have no idea where the 170 was done...none of them match exactly..but both Demons are almost exact...why don't you just wrap the hood

hood needs a little body work, block and sand a few times, fill in a few spots. And I peeled the old wrap off the hood, it was already wrapped. Not something I want to do again especially with a fiberglass hood. And wrap scratches very, very easily - especially satin black

Paint is also only slightly more expensive than a wrap, if you can believe it.

I'd be willing to bet...if that painted surface was right next to the wrap (like mine was) you would see a noticeable difference

Well...good luck with the process...not something I wanna do anymore...(those days are over)

Thanks, appreciate it. I’m not painting it someone else is lol. It’s a pretty rare hood in fiberglass, not many of them around so trying to make it nice. I’ll post up pics of the car once it’s done

Ppl use to think my black hood on my Redeye was a wrap. Sorta looked like one being matt black but nope.

RXF is the matt black paint code. If u want it shinier then put more coats of clear on it.
