My oil has been a bit glittery since whacking on the crank with a sledge hammer (thrust bearing maybe?) I may need to finally get one of these, but I just changed the oil for the best 2 years/200 miles

Could be thrust bearing. Why were you whacking on the Crank Shaft with a sledgehammer lol
You can change the drain plug without losing any oil just put a shop vac on the PCV port and draw vacuum on the crank case and air will bubble through the hole while you quickly take the standard drain plug out and put a magnetic plug-in.

Wow, bread trick worked every time for me, you have the bread too wet maybe or the clearance around your drift pin was too big? We talking a bushing for an A8 trans or a M6 bearing?

Taking out m6 bearing to put in A8 bushing. Had to modify a slide hammer attachment and it pulled right out. Threw bushing in freezer for a few hours and it slid right in. Bread was dry, maybe I should have tried wheat? Wonder bread? Potato?

I doubt I damaged thrust bearing. Crank gets all kind of pressure, wallops with a sledge and socket shouldn’t have phased it. It’s fine, I’ll do an oil analysis next change - I couldn’t find my kit when I was changing the oil. It looks fine
