I had 1.5x while my car was stock.
I agree with Mark about launching.

I call it Tap smash. Once you get use to it you will feel the hook so you put your foot to the floor!

Also Don't load up the converter. Just give it enough gas that you know some is going through.

What PSI are you running in your DRs?
MTs do not like to be overheated and be sure to roll out after the burnout. ( I'm sure you do)
Remember Kate's Burnouts at Challengerfest her car had Nittos they love to be heated. She loved making all the smoke lol.

After 4 years I added the HHP drag Springs.
They helped my 60 ft to a 1.37 from a 14x.

I have now added a Suncoast Converter and a SHR Trans. I'm looking to get even a better 60 ft once I get some seat time.

Linda :)
"Tap Smash" I like that;). I didn't know what to call it. So I called it one two because when I am launching I say to myself "one two" fast. If the car hooks I say " one two" faster and faster. You are right after awhile you can feel if the car hooked on the "Tap". You can feel if it is going to be a good run. I am a believer in the "TAP SMASH".

I think the 3.09 has to go hand in hand with the taller 315/50 tire. Some who have gone to that tire with the 2.62 have experienced driveline failure. If I remember I believe Sumit can speak on that. I know Tommy Peters can because he broke his trans output shaft the first time out with the 315’s on a 2.62 gear. The taller tire moderates the lower 3.09 ratio plus it puts double the rubber on the track with the longer footprint you get due to the increased sidewall. I think even with a moderately powered car the 3.09’s are too much gear for the 28 tall 305 tire and that’s why some go back to the 2.62.

This exactly what I'm doing. My 305's are just about done and my next tire will be the 315's . I will also be upgrading to the 3.09 gear to compliment these tires .

I give my info to help anyone else launch.
You know in those days when my husband Top Cat was out the focus was on him he had the goals for the level 8.xx
And I will tell you that I taught him some of tricks to keep him reaching his goals!
Tap smack is one of them :)

There are more ;)

Well you’re going to be the perfect candidate to measure exactly what happens. From sixty ft to trap speed with your proven performance.

The trade off with going to the bigger tire is weight. They are heavier. One could assume that its going to cost you some mph. It will be interesting to actually see the results with a highly documented performance car such as yours. Looking forward to reading all about it.

I have done ton of research and calculations this is why I'm going this route . And as for the extra weight of the taller tire ...... I also have a way to combat that too .
Yes you will be able to read all about it as I do the mods . Hopefully by the fall when the weather cools down !

My absolute favorite mod was a gift from my husband/ Top Cat

I’m curious to see if your tune tweak will help. My car is also tuned by OSTMike and in good weather and track prep will go 1.39s to 60 consistently with a best of 1.37. I street drive my car a lot also and it is all factory suspension/brakes, 2.62 gear with a 18x10 wheel with 305/45 18 et street r.

Simple, Practice, Practice, Practice, then Perfect Practice!

That 1.3 probably won't feel much different then your 1.4's but will give you a better 1/4 mile.

Seems like a lot of great advice from the forum members.

Good luck with your endeavor.

There have been many posts where people moved from 262s to 309s back to 262s and now have gone back to 309s
I would think the reason is because now there readily more supporting suspension parts.

I would look more into suspension parts.

Linda :)

I was one of the people who switched from 2.62's to 3.09's then back to 2.62's . My reasoning was the 3.09's coupled with a 28 inch tire was too much and traction suffered . But now that I plan on going to the 315/50/17 tire which is 29.4 inches tall the 3.09's will be better suited for my needs with this tire .

so before I put the car on the rack I went an put 4 bags of water softener salt in the trunk ( centered ) an that brought down 1/2 inch to 3/4. AAD arms with stock settings an oem demon springs installed an RR was -1.1 degrees an LR was -.4 degrees . I compared length of stock arms to AAD arms an they where identical in length.

no wonder car can`t hook from the factory..............now the fun begins trying tabs to get it perfect.
Do you sit in the car when it's getting aligned ?... I would think that would be good to do too ?

Exactly what I did - 3.09 with 315/50/17 , another good thing about the 315 vs. 305 is the shift points , the 315 gets me through the 1/4 in 5th gear , where the 305 would shift to 6th right at the end of 1/4 , one less shift now.

I need to get my alignment checked & adjusted , but I have all stock suspension except for the lower arms which are Spohn & P4D brace.

@Marc W , @Hpindy , So if I get enough weight in the trunk to make it squat around 1/2 > 3/4" & me sitting in it , for the alignment , I guess that would be good ?... and adjust to 0 toe & camber ? … street car , part time track car.

I see a lot of people outside of the hellcat world running the hoosier dr2. Why is that not a popular option for us? The 325 45 18 has almost identical sidewall as the 315 50 17 MT but 5 lbs less weight per tire. Seems like it would be a great combo for a 3.09 geared car. 30" tall tire with a lot of sidewall plus less weight seems like a winner. Do they not hook?

When I did mine I had my weight in the driver's seat only and had the rear camber set to .5 + camber . So far so good .
