Man that intercooler is a massive upgrade!!! Whipple hit it on the new gen. Probably won't even need a chiller :unsure::unsure:

Ice box with a FI interchiller.

From what I have read our cars have 1000 lbs of safety and convenience over a drag pack .

There’s a lot of “convenience” in there. Look at that contraption surrounding the steering shaft!
That's why I got the 'stripper 'RE right off the floor. No sunroof, power adj. column, Harmon kardon, auto dim, lane protection, leather int,..nothin. Nowhere near the intensity of this build, but pretty damn light for a HC right off the floor. My non power column alone is 20lbs lighter than the power one!

So, as this thing progresses….. It is turning out not to be just a straight path forward. More like a winding road with reconsiderations as new ideas pop up. Due the huge size and expected capabilities of the intercoolers on this thing, we are going to ditch the interchiller and relocate the icebox from the trunk to under the hood. We have a good open spot for it in the rear corner of the engine compartment on the passenger side where the pcm and cabin air filter used to be. Now it’s going to end up being a custom 3+gallon box designed to sit down in there like the DragPak setup does, but to the rear of the front fender well instead of in front of it. This way those huge coolant lines will just be a short direct run from the box instead of being routed all the way to the trunk. The flow rate will not be obstructed and we will shed some more weight. So where’s the Whipple you say….. There was a bit of a hold up with that being put in place because we found out that the Dominator ECU doesn’t have VVT capability. Duh! Didn’t know that 🙄. So we had to find out how to address it. We were told that simply locking the cam gear down will do it. My engine builder says that will not be an issue with this setup. Hopefully the blower will be on today and I’ll be able to get some pics. Here’s where we will be placing that icebox….. 6D6CAA63-6BCA-4595-AD57-156BE7167AFE.jpeg

Looking good! Is SRT in Phoenix putting it together for you?
No. Where the car is going at this point is out of their zone. I have another person with the skill set to do the custom work and fabrication necessary that I am working together with. After that’s done, it will be going back to Calif to complete the 7.5 cert update on the cage and then back to Utah for tuning.

It takes a village of shops. I’m at the annual Nightfire Drags in Boise Idaho. Nostalgia Nitro and hundreds of the hottest drag car in the west. I feel like I’m back in the 60’s! I’m also here with another one of the Western Hellpaks in progress. Getting some shakedown runs on Brian’s Spankintime Redeye. DA was 6000’ at 95 degrees. Only running a 13 lb pulley and conservative tune due to first time out. Ran 9.3 at 149. Changing pulley now and getting a little more aggressive with the timing. Factory FSS CobraJet ran a 8.95 at 152 as a comparison.

  1. jelly cause ive done a lot and can’t break 9s in good weathet
  2. Excited to see where this goes. If you run the 3.0 do you have to use the holley?

Haha. I got nothing to do with it. Lol. I’m just in charge of staging and video. Found the problem in the map sensor setup and made some changes. The tb was closing. This is a one of a kind experiment in making this setup run on a OE computer. So…. last pass today in the afternoon heat (89 degrees with a da of 5000’) it made a full pass……. 9.03. Tomorrow morning will be another shot and it’s going to be in the 60’s.

8.78 tomorrow. My car also has gone into just coasting between the 1/8th and 1000 foot mark. All power just goes away with no throttle. Not limp mode. At about 5000 feet in Tucson it happened. 9.80 at 125. I do not have the expertise to know what happened. You are lucky to have a good team behind you.
