When do you plan on doing the turbo swap? Or did you already?
I am still waiting on pistons for the new engine. Everything else is on the shelf waiting on the assembly. This engine has been near a year and a half now. We had pistons but then late in the game made a change. Wanted to do a different ring setup and while doing that, came up with a plan to have them (CP Carrillo) digitize the cylinder head combustion chambers to do a CNC piston match. We also went to12:1 compression. That’s been over 12 weeks now. So waiting on that and a new cam (turbo profile) being done by Crower. There’s no way the turbos are going on my current motor. It’s a well built long block with good stuff, but I’m not going to throw 2500hp at it.

Big day today. The block is off to the machine shop for final work and then the assembly can start. A huge decision was made on the turbo build front. I’ve decided not to go with the air/air intercooler and instead pulled the trigger on a billet intake with built in air/water cooler instead. So I’ll be sticking with the icebox after all. On the plus side…. The intake tubing will be much nicer, running from the turbos on each side into a beautifully crafted Motion Raceworks CNC Billet Y and throttle body. Dual BOV’s instead of the single like Jim’s setup. A really trick feature with this intake and one of the primary reasons to go with this is the dual injector feature. To start I’ll just be using the 2200’s I have now but as fuel flow requirements go up, I can add another injector per cylinder. The next step up for me would be the new ID2600’s at something like $3k a pop. The bigger atomizers necessary for methanol are something like $5k. With this dual setup I can pair much less expensive injectors to get exactly what I need going forward without the high costs of the big ones. 😎 E149ADB9-A4BC-487C-89A3-A4C29900319B.jpeg

...Sounds like she'll be a great Drag & Drive ride for the future :giggle:. No coatings for the pistons?

. Nope. No snake oil on the pistons. 😁

To start I’ll just be using the 2150’s I have now but as fuel flow requirements go up, I can add another injector per cylinder. The next step up for me would be the new ID2600’s at something like $3k a pop. The bigger atomizers necessary for methanol are something like $5k. The pistons look good. It's unfortunate that 4 months isn't an unusual lead time for much of anything that's considered a custom internal engine component these days. I used to order Ti valves(pre covid) and get them in 3-4 wks. Now it's 4-6 months.

That billet manifold setup is impressive. I'd say you'll love the dual injector deal later on. I would think controlling the smaller holes will be much better than trying to make small changes to a huge injector.

It'll be fun watching your progression w this deal..

Oh, and the green button on the shifter doesn't count as far as cool factor. It's got to be a big red one on the steering wheel to impress the onlookers. [giddy]

We’re looking at a 500hp power increase over what we’ve been doing so who knows what injector we’re going to need. I don’t think the 2200cc Bosch is going to do it. 🙄 Going to a ID2600 is an expensive jump and the bigger they get, the more of a challenge they are to manage. So now we’ll have a option to that. This dual injector thing is new to us but going with a combination of two smaller injectors sounds like a good idea from a fuel management point. And…. I like my green button 🤓

I assume they do as this stuff is made for Pro Mod boost levels. I don’t have it in hand yet so I haven’t seen what’s going on there.

You already got it??? Wow
Lol. No not quite that fast. Those pictures were sent to me by the guy I’m working with. They are familiar with my car and the shop from the Legions race in Houston last year. They are well known in the Chevy world but are just now getting into stuff like this for the Gen 3 Hemi. It sounds like my car will be the first with one of these and they want pictures from me when done.

Some turbo bling came in today 🤗. I was going to start putting this stuff in a box but it looks too good on my office table. 674C0398-FE84-48F5-A1FB-A4E735A15A83.jpeg B295169C-1A92-47FE-8E2C-930BEC03266D.jpeg

You should take measurements or have someone do measurements of the turbo headers before you install em looks like an awesome design
