Will a LMI filter and CF tube fit in a JLT Air box?

Demon, maybe an advantage with that big ass scoop, I dunno on Hellcat or RE. I'd almost think it a restriction over the open head light and bottom of the fender, but these debates have been going on for at least 10 years. My old car picking up 30RWHP was enough to convince me, and yes we called them hot air intakes then too. 30rwhp isn't gonna mean much on the drag strip though, so I doubt you'd see anything testing it and way too many variables.

I didn't switch from the stock air box until I saw the engineers go to open element filters and even then only when there was a fire sale LOL. 30ish HP on a 700ish RWHP isn't noticeable at all but I think they look way better than the stock box. I had the LMI first and didn't care for it honestly but like the JLT.

I'm a purist on looks on a car for the most part and like having the stock airbox. Didn't you figure 30hp was a tenth at your power level?

Physics says 30hp is 1/10 but that's hard to measure in practice. MPH would probably be a better indicator and would be like 1mph but then you have to factor in wind differences etc. My car's pretty consistent once I get it dialed in for the track I'm on but even then splitting time slips down to 1/10 ET or 1mph differences is kinda questionable.

For example at Moparty I ran a 9.91 at 138.83 but I also ran a 10.067 at 139.27. No changes to the car.

I think @Hpindy actually did the most comprehensive intake tests and went back and forth a few times from stock to various CAI on the same day. It's been a while but back when I first changed over to a CAI I'm pretty sure I had to tweak my fueling at WOT a tick for more air. There was a time I'd go look all that up but I'm getting old and can't be bothered to do stuff like that anymore :ROFLMAO:

@Speedy! I think the JLT has a much better design with the box/shield. Also if i remeber right JLT uses the air inlet from the headlight still to help it cool. LMI doesn't even have that. Above I was speaking on the LMI and it just sitting in a hot engine bay with no shield.
I think the JLT is a fine replacement. LMI not so much

Yes, the JLT does have the scoop to the headlight hole. I liked that feature as well as the sealed box that also draws air form the fender. Gives it several paths which "feels" good to me LOL. That's another reason I left the hood vent open, another path, although some argue at speed that vent gets a negative pressure area. That's also fine for me as it would mean a higher air draw across the filter as air was pulled out the vent. Assuming a supercharged 6.2L was sucking enough air to over come that negative pressure area in which case it's just more outside air. See how screwy this can all get LOL.

I had an LMI and it was LOUD. That was the reason I changed it. I'm sure I checked data logs between LMI and JLT but I don't remember there being much if any difference but it's been a couple years.

I had a JLT on my Daytona briefly like I tested at the track once briefly:LOL: It is a nice set up
That was some of the discussion I had with B Mason was there needed to be some tuning to make it work. He figured .03 with the JLT after tuning.
I made 8 passes in the spring at the FAST race and run 4 and 5 was with the JLT. MPH was 129.91,129.95. The other 5 passes with the stock airbox were 130.32-130.93. Best time with the JLT was 10.69 worst was 10.75 best with stock 10.61 worst was a 10.69
My car likes back to back passes. On my worst stock airbox pass of 10.69 it followed with a 10.61. On the JLT pass 10.69 and followed with a 10.75. Stock airbox back to back was always faster on the 2nd pass where the JLT was slower. This was seen every time including in the fall

Same exact intake (and I mean the exact one, not a new one of the same model) that picked up 30RWHP on my 2009 when it was supercharged only picked up exactly 5hp on the dyno back to back vs the stock air box when it was NA.

Not sure how HPIndy was picking up 3-4MPH swapping back and fourth vs your results. Maybe your car just doesn't like more air LOL. When my car was stock I tried pulling the air filter out of the stock box at the track to test against having the filter in it. I saw zero difference with that.

I have tested the no air filter on a 5.7 a 6.4 and a 6.2 none went faster yet I hear all these people that pick up a tenth. Maybe they have real dirty filters:LOL:

At the track there is very little difference ( at least on my car) between the LMI and JLT . I think it was 1/2 mph and a couple of hundredths . I too found the LMI a bit loud for my liking .

My car is modified. At the time of the intake testing I had a demon cam , 10% lower, ported heads , and a ported 2.7L supercharger. It liked the unrestricted intake air volume .

I tried it 3 or 4 times . I can see fine scratches on the lobes in the supercharger from dirt / dust passing through it . I'm not happy about that ! That's why I say it's not worth the risk .

As much as I hate the "raisin bran" hood it is a better set up for a intake system then the original hellcat system in terms of volume air delivery. The demon hood with the AFE carbon fiber kit. It is the best so far in my opinion for delivering cool fresh air in large volumes .

Now I don't remember whom told me this or read it, but. This I read or heard was the difference in HP between the RE and the DEmon was the hood and air intake. Was this a correct vision??

I usually see a wash with an intake in the 1/4mi but in the 1/2mi and higher, there are gains.

147.54 mph vs 144.56 mph (1/2mi). Legmaker vs. 2015 Stock (+2.98mph).

On 2019+, the gain won’t be as significant because of the new air box. But there is a slight bit (not much) left if you run a filter and tube larger than OEM.
