Got the dual pump plug and play drop in system installed today. Pretty easy and a nice setup. It comes with an external fuel filter that ties in to the factory fuel lines. I'm not sure about installing it. I never had one on the old car, and the factory doesn't include one. In tank pumps have filter socks like you'd expect. The engineer in me thinks about 4 more spots to leak.

What say you? Install or not?

I'm kinda with you about 4 more places to possibly leak , & if you have filter on the pumps then probably don't need another ?
I say NOT.

Seems like overkill + more places to leak + another thing to maintain to me, but I don't race my car.

I have one installed very similar to that one but 128mm instead of 88mm. Injector Dynamics recommends an inline fuel filter especially if you're using E85. You just want to make sure you're using the micro glass filter.

Here's mine installed.

The socks in the tank are not normally suited for protecting the injectors from trash. They are to protect the pump from chunks.

Yea, but it's just about the best location to mount one of this style. There are other types of filters as well but would like require mounting in a different location. The 90s dont seem to affect anything though, my car put down 892whp with it.

If you install enough 90 degree elbows eventually you will have a solid cap.
Each 90 drops the pressure around .2lb.
In the end the pump has to work harder prematurely wearing out the pump.
On the other hand you should have several filters.

10-4, given the volume of fuel these pumps out out and the size of the injectors I'm using, seems the .2lbs per 90 degree elbow is negligible.

Some things are better left up to the real professionals. No offense to anyone on here but I’m guessing it’s a slim crowd on this subject.

Not only does ID recommend one, so does Skip at Demon Performance. I would imagine others that are serious about racing use them as well, you just dont typically hear about them since it's not really a performance mod. But I dont disagree that it's not a common mod, most people just dont know that the stock pump screen filters dont really filter anything going into your injectors. Having injectors cleaned annually isnt a cheap process and a filter like this will save money long term.

Fore is arguably at the top of the heap when it comes to fuel systems for these things and that filter is a part of their high end package. I have the triple 525 system and use that same filter. I don’t have a good picture of that but it can be seen in one I have of something else under there and I cropped it down to see the filter. I say use it. F385171D-E900-48B5-9330-15908DC9F93E.jpeg
