What size are your Welds? Looks like a ton of space for a wrinklie tire!

LOVE the way those 325 Hoosiers looked on your beautiful Super Stock.

Couldn’t resist any longer so I ordered a set.

Real nice look filling the wheel well and giving the car a muscular rake.

Thank you for posting those pictures even though it cost me money !

Thanks! I love driving around on these, the traction is so much better than the Nitto's and you're right--they really fill out the rear wheel wells nicely. I might have to get another pair of Demon wheels for the front and just set aside my original wheels/tires to keep long term.

I think one of the reasons the taller 30" tire works so well is due to the additional 1/4" fender gap you get with Back Seat Delete cars that do not have the subwoofer reducing weight in the back by a total of 70 lbs. That additional 1/4" fender gap with a 28" tire becomes noticeable.

Nothing much to report here except I got some Demon skinnies and M/T Sportsman 28x6 radials to use as my everyday setup (to go with the Demon rears and 29.5" Hoosier DR2s). This way I'll preserve the original wheels and tires for future value. And then I've got the full Weld setup for personal best attempts at the track.

Btw, the Demon skinnies and M/T radials weigh 49 lbs each side (25 tire + 24 skinny), so it will still be a total of 22 lbs saved off the front on this everyday setup. 20211206_171313.jpg 20211203_072220.jpg

Now I guess I may peel off that gray plastidip on the rear Demon wheels so they'll match my new Demon skinnies... or, I could plastidip the front skinnies gray. Decisions....

Unfortunately no racing until late Feb since my local track is closed.

My vote goes for the plastidip process because you did such a beautiful job on the back wheels, plus it's consistent/correct with the Super Stock. (y)

Question: do you happen to know the combined weight of the SS 18X11 wheel and 315 factory Nitto?

One the members in the other forum reported the 18X11 Demon wheel @ only 22 lbs. This seem light for such a big wheel ? I know the 315 factory Nitto's weigh 33.15 lbs.

I just checked that on mine yesterday.
One of the rear stockers weighs exactly 60 lbs. on my certified freight scale. The tire has about 180 miles on it so nothing worn off yet.

The complete total weight gain is:

11 + 11 + 3.15 + 3.15 = 28.30 lbs total of rotating/unsprung weight.

Arguably each lb. of rotating/unsprung weight is worth 4 lbs. of static (dead) weight.

Thus 4 x 28.30 = 113.20 lbs.

So your DR-2's in the back with the Sportsmans in the front compared to the 4 factory 315 Nitto's have saved the equivalent of 113.20 lbs. of dead weight ! (y)

Note: the 3.15 is the delta difference of the Factory 315 Nitto's @ 33.15 lbs. vs. the Hoosier DR-2's @ 30.0 lbs.

I think I'm leaning toward plastidipping the Demon skinnies gray. Hopefully I have enough anthracite gray left, as I recall it was sort of hard to come by.

And my factory SS wheels with Nitto NT05R weighed exactly 60 lbs, just like Mike Jesse reported.

Looking forward to seeing your car with the "skinnies" installed.

Along with those big DR-2's in the back this will be a menacing look !

Found a little extra time today to mount up the Weld drag pack for some pics... These are 17x10 and 18x5 Weld Venturas with Hoosier 28x10.5 drag bracket radials and Hoosier 28" front runners. They don't fill out the wheel wells as nicely as the 29.5" DR2's I drive around on, but this set is for personal best attempts.

Here are some pics of the new street/everyday setup. Demon 18x11 rears with Hoosier 325/45/18 DR2s (as seen earlier in this thread), and now the Demon crate skinnies with M/T sportsman SR's. These are plastidipped in anthracite gray until I have them powdercoated. 20220109_183847~2.jpg 20220109_184035~2.jpg 20220109_183724~2.jpg 20220109_183801~2.jpg

The Super Stock name and your "street set up" are perfectly synonymous.

You do good work !

Yea I suspect your "street set up" may not be very far behind your "strip" set up dependent on certain track conditions. Could very well be called "street/strip" set up ?
I also think the DR-2's will be very comfortable for casual driving due to the greater sidewall and I believe Ron reported the Sportsman "skinnies" are very capable on the street.

Love to get your casual driving impressions of the DR-2/Sportsman set up.

I realize this will not be optimum for handling whereas that's a whole different discipline.

Looks amazing! Have you done any paint protection or planning on doing some Yosemite Sam mud flaps for those areas behind the rear tires? :) Got to think it will be getting blasted with rocks all the time.
