Great! I flew again, paid an Uber guy about $90 to get to Niagara, but he was a long lost Italian cousin, so it was fun, and now I am laughing my ass off reading my thread.

Could mount/arm a big shotgun to fire and blow their heads off with an unintentional start. Let me think on that one for a while.

There are devices for company cars and stuff like that that can do this. Well I’ve seen some that are odb obviously you don’t want that. I googled a device like this and this came up. Sounds about what you are looking for. Looks like a monthly fee but I’m going to assume they all will because you have to have some sort of remote signal to kill it.
Which brings us to another point idk if this one does but I’d find one that could alert your phone with movement. They could block the signal pretty quick.
idk if this is a good one I read 0 reviews.

I know it isn't what you're asking for, but there is that new software upgrade for two step auth where you have to enter a PIN before you start your car.

I don't have it myself so I don't know the details.
I called Dodge after a couple months teaching my local Dodge service departments about this software update when trying to (unsuccessfully) schedule it several times. Apparently, they (service departments at local dealerships) are THEEE absolute last to find out about. After about 30 minutes on the phone with Dodge Costumer Service they told me they’d have to look into it a little further, confirming that it is, in fact, a pending update. They called me back in a little over a day and informed me that this software update has officially been pushed to rollout Fall ‘21.

I just need to know one wire to interrupt. I’ll take care of the rest.

The method of duplicating or extending your fob signal to start the car can be defeated with a single wire switch that breaks power to the RF Hub. The hub is a small plastic box under the rear window package tray in Challengers. That is what the fob is talking to. No RF Hub connection…. No start. Splice in a switch and hide it somewhere that is accessible from the outside and it removes the fob connection necessary to enter or start the car that way. If a programmed computer connection with the OBD port is another way of starting the car then I doubt this will answer that, but at least they will have to actually break into the car instead of just opening the door with your hijacked fob.

@DGatzby

I recommend a N.C. (normally closed) switch for better fault tolerance.

(If the switch fails, the circuit with be closed, hopefully not leaving you stranded, trying to troubleshoot it on the side of the road)

Exactly.

Even if they go to the OBD, if the RF Hub is disabled, there will be no "ready" CANBUS message, to the BCM and the car will not start.

Disabling the RF Hub is simple and effective, because it talks to the BCM, all the time

You may get a U11B9 code. Not sure, but the condition will resolve itself, if you do.

Currently modding a Jeep. If anyone has some input, on which wire to interrupt, please PM David, directly.

Bob

Seems easy. If we can have some of the idiots planning on getting some LX’s easy to become discouraged because their sins become more difficult to perform, I am in. Let them read and wonder.

I put a switch inline on the fuel pump wire on the last 3 5.0 cars I had. Didn't even hide the switch, just mounted it right below the dash in plain view, but it wasn't marked. The guys at the tire shop or wherever wouldn't try flipping that switch, even after I told them and showed them what the deal was. They would always come out and tell me that my car wouldn't start, and I'd always have to go back and do it for them.

I would think that a switch in the starter wire circuit on these cars would do the same thing. And it you really want to throw them off, label it "fog lights" or something.

Just to be fair, this was also the type of switch I used. You have to pull it out to flip it either direction, and that was a stumbling block for a lot of them too. The ones that did try to flip it said it wouldn't flip.

Okay I just was reading and watching how easy it is to steal these. What is a good (easy and effective) wire to splice to kill it?
Positive battery cable. Works like a charm! Guaranteed to immobilize the car.

Sure. Except I am not interested in putting in a circuit breaker to handle the load and want the security system and computer modules in the car to not be disrupted.

There's always the option of a barrel keyed switch for the fuel pump, or other wires. That can be tucked out of the way and needs a key.
