An additional switch inline with the starter solenoid would have a very light load on it. You’re not trying to stop the power going to the starter, just the signal telling it to start.
If you’re going to go through that hassle, I’d also recommend several cameras. If they’re trying to steal your car, and they’re unsuccessful, at least you’ll have footage.

I looked at a car years ago where someone had done that with a pull-chain lamp switch. There was just this small pull-chain hanging from the bottom of the dash. No label or anything. Now who would think to pull that chain if they were trying to steal the car???

Sounds like to me there needs to be a 3 pronged approach if you want the most security. A way to stop the car from being started, a way to stop the car from being towed and a way to track the car if it is stolen.

This'll probably stop 99% of thieves, but as mentioned, if someone wants it bad enough they'll get it.

Trying to figure out the most reasonably effective, but non intrusive, severely inconvenient way of doing so. Would stink to have one method, but it stolen from a different way.
