Sucks to have to buy all new wheels but the speed you are going probably not a bad idea. I'm not going your speed but would have still had an issue with the wrong bolt pattern even that close.

You saved some weight though:p
Yeah as it it turns out it was really the only choice at this level. The 18” Winlite is14 lbs so it came out to a total of 35 lb difference for both front wheels and tires combined. 35 lbs rolling weight is actually more significant then it sounds. I’ve heard it’s actually worth X times the actual weight due to needing to accelerate the rolling mass of the wheel and tire. Of coarse the brakes are also going to be a part of that, but the tire weight on the outside of the circle is the biggest factor.

Marc, I wonder what Strange says about using that front brake setup on a car that is 4000lbs with driver? I have that setup but not sure how well it would work on my car being that heavy still.
My target weight is 3700 lbs. Thats still a lot, but not much more than the FSS Dragpaks. I still would not want to depend on using them without a chute. I know they’ll do the job if they have to, but to put them to that task full time would kill them in a hurry. I just got a new air launch Pro Stock chute to replace the old pilot chute type I had. My car will be getting a chute as soon as it is up and running again and I see what kind of times and speed it is putting down. It is about 95-98% track only use at this point anyway.

Big stuff going on (finally!). I will be running out of Spankintime Motorsports in Hurricane, Utah. There are three Hemi drag cars being worked on at this time. The B5Redeye that just ran 8.0 blower only (no spray) at Houston last month, a 430ci Whipple DragPak supercharged Magnum and…. Me 🙂. Spent the day yesterday designing a new T400 crossmember on my car. This will be a production piece and is by far the nicest and strongest I’ve seen. Also modifying the front cradle on the Magnum to accept a rear sump oil pan. Seven second acceleration presents a problem with oil control with the stock front sump pan and we managed to snag three of the Moroso DragPak rear sump pans for these cars. Thanks. Me too! I’m so far behind schedule on this thing it is great to finally being moving forward again. I’ll be finishing the fire suppression system today and starting to work on the new parachute launching system. Adam at Spankintime will be finishing this up. Way out of my league 😵‍💫. This is the new Holley Dominator EFI control center. It’s located in the passenger side foot well. Once the stock dash is back in…. Fire system is in 🤓. There are two auto (heat activated) heads. One in the trunk with the fuel cell and one protecting the drivers seat from the rear of the car in case the rear firewall is breached. They are just held in place with zip ties at this point, waiting on some custom mounting brackets. The two manual pull heads will be placed on each side of the engine to deal with a oil fire in the event of a catastrophic engine failure. Also got the roll bar padding and the hand fire extinguisher placed. Is that a Coan Convertor?
Neal Chance. As I’m sure you’re finding out…. When you step up one thing…. it pushes you into needing to do something else. One of the biggest performance pieces with high level drag cars is the converter. One of the other cars in the shop (Brian’s B5Redeye) just up graded to a new Paramount T400 and this Neal Chance Converter. My trans is a Coan and the converter will need to be upgraded to hang with Brian. Coan has their light weight billet bolt together units that will compete with that and I will need to talk to them to see what they can do for me. Thanks. Yeah we’ll be having some fun with that. The other shop Challenger is the blue Redeye that just ran 8.09 at Houston last month. He’s stepping that up a bunch and we will be going head to head for fun and to see how far into the 7’s we can go without spraying. The other car is a Magnum (5doorHemi) with similar (430ci with a DragPak Whipple) and T400.
